Pointradar standards
How card and benefit information is maintained
Pointradar is an independent personal project built to organize rewards information. These standards explain where the information comes from, how it is reviewed, and what users should verify for themselves.
Primary sources come first
Card names, annual fees, reward rates, and benefit descriptions are checked against public issuer pages and issuer benefit terms whenever those sources are available. Loyalty-program rules are checked against the program’s own published terms. Third-party summaries can help identify a change, but they are not treated as the final authority.
Dates and values need context
Benefits can reset monthly, quarterly, semiannually, annually, or on a cardmember anniversary. Pointradar records that cadence separately from the headline value. Reward rates may depend on merchant coding, spending caps, enrollment, booking channels, or targeted eligibility, so the app preserves those qualifications when they materially change how a benefit works.
The catalog is reviewed continuously
Catalog updates are prioritized when an issuer launches, refreshes, or closes a card. A card may remain in the catalog when existing cardholders can still hold it, even if new applications are unavailable. Material changes are reviewed before they are published when possible; the live issuer terms remain controlling at all times.
Corrections are made in place
When a rate, fee, benefit, or program rule is found to be wrong or outdated, the catalog entry and related guidance are corrected rather than silently treated as permanent historical fact. Users can also enter or edit their own card details when a targeted offer or legacy product differs from the public catalog.
Editorial independence
Pointradar is not a bank, card issuer, airline, hotel, or financial adviser. Card inclusion and ordering are based on the usefulness of the product data inside the tracker. The site does not currently receive issuer compensation for card placement. If that changes, paid relationships will be labeled clearly and will not determine the factual terms shown for a card.
What users should verify
Offers and terms can change without notice, and eligibility can vary by applicant. Before applying, transferring points, paying a fee, closing an account, or making a large purchase, confirm the current terms directly with the issuer or loyalty program. Pointradar provides organization and education, not personalized financial advice.
